So I will be explaining juice cleansing and the benefits, some juices to make to have the most impact and how to go about it all!
So lets start From the Cleansing! preparation up to the actual start of the cleanse is important and can make the cleanse more efficient.
You can maximize the benefits of dedicating a few days to preparation. Plus you’ll enjoy a more pleasant experience and avoid a potential healing crisis buy cleaning up your diet in the days leading up to your juice cleanse.
SO HOW LONG DO YOU CLEANSE FOR???
Well it all depends on your current eating habits and lifestyle. It can last from 2-7 days it differs for everyone and what category they fit into
HOW LONG OF A CLEANSE IS BEST FOR ME???
I HAVE BROKEN DOWN THREE CATAGORIES
HEALTH FOOD CLEAN EATING ENTHUSIAST:
If you are normally a fairly clean eater and kept to a pretty good eating plan and fell of the wagon and need a reset 1-2 days are sufficient
If you are the type to stay pretty strict during the week and the weekends you like to put your feet up and enjoy life a little! If you are also looking for a solution to be more consistent on a 7 days basis of better eating and stay on track. Before you do this cleanse you should do a pre cleanse prep.Spend 3 to 4 days before your actual cleanse commences to rid the body of the left overs of too much caffeine, alcohol or processed foods.
INDULDGER AND VICTIM OF THE HARMFUL FOODS
Maybe you live a super busy life and you have fell victim to eating consistently of foods consisting of processed or pre-packaged foods and not enough fresh, nutrient dense plant based foods. To avoid really unpleasant detox symptoms and achieve the best results please commit to a 5 day pre cleanse diet prior to your start date of your cleanse.
Now that you can kind of see where you would fit in, and understand how long of a pre cleanse you will need lets talk about pre cleanse steps.
DRINK MORE WATER!!!!
DID YOU KNOW YOUR BODY MAY BE TELLING YOU ITS HUNGRY CAN ALSO BE A SIGN OF DEHYDRATION?
Drinking more water will keep you hydrated eliminate false hunger and helps transport nutrients to your cells.
CUT BACK ON CAFFINE!!!!
For best results of cleansing we want to bring your body into a more alkaline state.
If you are a typical coffee and soda drinker it is important to wean yourself off of them because of their high acidity levels before you cleanse. you may substitute with green tea if you must have anything at all. that way you ca still get some caffeine without disrupting your alkalinity levels
EAT AND DRINK MORE FRUITS AND VEGGIES!!!!
A simple way to incorporate more fruits and veggies into your diet is green smoothies(I will get to those at the end) lots of amazing recipes!!!
LEAN AWAY FROM ANIMAL PRODUCTS
In around 2 days before you start your cleanse I aim to eat strictly a plant based diet!! Meaning no meat, no eggs or dairy products.
If you are the type that eats animal products around once a day or more try your best to cut that down a week in advance.Animal products put much more strain on your digestive system. Limiting and removing these coming upon the days before your cleanse will make the cleanse easier on the body and you will get way more efficient benefits.
ELIMINATE PROCESSED FOODS
I have always been a true believer to read labels. If you cannot pronounce the words in the ingredients than you should not be eating it. You really should eliminate processed foods from your body. They lack proper nutrition to begin with and have always added vitamins and minerals that who knows where they actually came from. they are really hard on your body.
LASTLY EAT ORGANIC WHENEVER POSSIBLE!!!!
NOW ON TO CLEANSING
Great way to start your first day and beginning of everyday during to your cleanse is warm lemon water. It is an awesome way to kick start your morning beginning the cleansing process before you have even had your first sip of juice. It is an incredible liver simulate!
CONSISTENCY IS KEY!!
You should be aiming to drink a juice every 2-2.5 hours. To some 6-8 juices a day may seem like a lot but if you are spacing your juices over 12 hours and your last one around 2 hours before bed your body will thank you. If you skip juices you risk being overly hungry and may be more tempted to step of course. Even if you are not showing signs of hunger at your next juice time drink it up anyways!
Depending on how through you want the body cleanse to be there are lots of ways to encourage and help the body get it all out.
Dry Brushing: It helps remove dead skin cells and opens your pores during the detox process.
Sweat it out: I am a very very high believer sweating is one of the best ways the human body and help push out toxins.
Eliminate waste: It is not uncommon to see a decrease in elimination as your cleanse continues. Less in can mean less out, but keep watch on your bodies signals if you start to experience detox symptoms such as nausea but have not yet eliminated waste from your body you may have to encourage it out with a stimulation process. Laxitive or enema
DURING THE CLEANSING PROCESS
When you start juicing, you are consuming superior quality foods–nutrient-rich fresh fruits and vegetables. Your body will get to work eliminating inferior tissues and toxins; and start to build newer, healthier tissues.
For example, when you stop taking your daily stimulant “fix” such as coffee, tea or chocolate; headaches or migraines may occur. This is part of a normal cleansing and regeneration process. Your intelligent body discards toxins like caffeine or theobromine from your body tissues and transports them out of the body via the bloodstream.
Your liver and kidneys work overdrive to remove the toxins from the blood. The temporary increased toxin levels in the blood may cause side effects such as headache, joint pain or weakening of a limb. You may also experience slower heart rate which your mind may translate as lethargy, or lower energy levels.
When you encounter these symptoms, do not give up. Your body is going through a cleansing and regeneration process, which may take 7-14 days, depending on the toxicity level in your body. Take this period to rest as your body recuperates and prepares for better health ahead. Remember, your success starts here—you are on the way to a healthier and new you.
So some things you may experience along the way are the must chew now!!! You must ask yourself if you are truly hungry or you are just craving to chew something. If you are truly not hungry hang in there!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!
If the answer is that you are truly and honestly hungry and you really really honestly need something to get through pay attention to this!!!
Do not beat yourself up about it!!! Don’t! You can save yourself during this moment with a sensible snack. Either something like an avocado , a green salad, a piece of fruit or a small handful of nuts will not undo all the good you are doing. Have your snack and get right back on track.
So now your Juice cleanse is complete!!!! whoo hoo I am so proud of you and congratulations!!!! How do you feel??? reflect on how you now feel. and what you learned as you slowly move back into eating solid foods.
the first days you are coming off your cleanse I advised to avoid red meat, dairy, alcohol, processed and fried foods.
This is all such a great way to help with food elimination. by slowly incorporating foods back into your day by adding one item back at a time you can rule out and identify food sensitivities and allergens.
For instant if you have suspicions that you have a sensitivity to wheat, dairy, nuts or soy or anything else introduce back one at a time tis way you will be able to identify the cause.
- 1 1/2 cups water.
- 2 cups kale.
- 2 green apples, cored.
- 1/2 cup parsley leaves.
- 1 medium cucumber, quartered.
- 2 celery stalks, roughly chopped.
- 1 (1-inch) piece of ginger, peeled.
- 2 Tablespoons lemon juice.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CLEANSING AND DETOX?
Detox drinks are great for cleansing the body of toxins that have you experiencing digestive issues, weakness, bloating, nausea, mood swings and skin issues. Detox drinks help to boost energy, cleanse the liver, aid weight loss, reduce inflammation and promote skin health.
Health Benefits of Detoxing
1. Eliminating toxins from foods, beverages and hygiene products
Out of the many toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis that we have little to no control over, such as environmental toxins in the air we breathe, toxins that come from the food and beverages we consume are largely controllable. Many health experts agree that toxic load (the amount of toxins our body is able to handle) is responsible for a considerable amount of diseases in modern day society . Buying organic produce (fruits and vegetables), along with organic and grass-fed meat and wild fish, seriously decreases the amount of toxins you take in on a day to day basis.
And it doesn’t stop at food. Personal hygiene and home care products are often laden with toxic chemicals that can be harmful to our health. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) offers a list of which companies use toxic ingredients, and which do not. Simply cutting these toxins out offers huge health benefits in and of itself.
2. Increased energy throughout the day
While a detox diet might cause some fatigue early on (particularly for those who had a diet high in toxins beforehand), many people report feeling improved and more sustained energy during and after a detox diet. A major part of any good detox should be adequate hydration with clean water, and studies show that even mild dehydration (a fluid loss of under 3%), frequently causes headaches, anxiety, mood disorders and decreased cognitive performance
3. Resetting your food choices
The number one goal of a high quality detox plan should be long-term, sustainable change. By undergoing a detox diet, you will not only be supporting your bodies detoxification pathways (as discussed above), but you will be resetting the way you eat, and the choices you make.
Consider this: A 2007 study conducted by researchers at UCLA concluded that dieting does not work, based on the fact that the vast majority of dieters gain back all of the weight (if not more) within a maximum of five years time (but often less), and that many actually would have been better off without dieting, in the first place .
This means that an effective detox diet aimed at cutting out toxic foods and controlling cravings can significantly help in changing your habits in the long term.
4. Controlling cravings
It is a myth that cravings are controllable with just will-power alone. The truth is, cravings are based in hormonal imbalances, and need to be addressed and controlled as such. Cravings significantly impact binge eating and weight gain , and a smart detox plan can nip them in the bud.
5. Curbing food addiction
Food addiction is serious business, and is more than just your standard food cravings. Like any alcohol or drug addiction, people who are more biochemically prone to addiction can become addicted to food , and junk food manufacturers take full advantage of this by placing chemically addictive substances in their products. For individuals with a high level of dopamine receptors, they can become addicted to food just as they would get addicted to a drug , as modern-day junk foods create a surge of dopamine to be released in the brain .( its false happiness false feeling good and the effects are devastating long term)
A detox diet that focuses on eliminating addictive foods and chemicals can greatly support recovering from a food addiction. Dietary changes mixed with certain herbs and supplements can be especially effective.
6. Giving your body the micronutrients it needs
Micronutrient deficiency is one of the leading causes of disease and even mortality . The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) points out some of the most common links, such as iron deficiency and anemia, iodine deficiency and thyroid conditions, vitamin A deficiency and degenerative eye disease, and zinc deficiency and respiratory and other immune conditions . Vitamin B is also crucial in brain function and many people are deficient as well.
By undergoing a diet centered around nutrient dense superfoods and beverages, you will be ensuring that your body gets the essential vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and antioxidants it needs for optimal health. And, many micronutrients are absolutely necessary for the bodies detoxification pathways to function properly .
7. Managing stress
A study published in Clinical Endocrinology found a link between high cortisol levels and fatty liver disease . Cortisol is our main stress hormone released during times of acute and chronic stress. When levels are higher than normal over a long period of time, this can cause a host of problems, including decreased liver function. By focusing on a detox diet high in blood sugar balancing foods, you will hormonally help to regulate cortisol levels, therefore actually working to manage stress on a chemical level. Increased energy, reduced cravings and lowered stress levels are just some of the many ways you will leave your detox diet feeling better. And remember, the mark of a truly successful detox is that you are set on the path of positive and long term change.
